Corsets are classic fashion pieces that are designed to enhance your curves, define your waist, and provide bust and posture support. Wearing a corset can be a bit tricky at first, but with some practice, it becomes a simple and quick routine. Tips how to wear corset:

  • First, wrap the corset around your waist with the laces flat against your back and the busk facing your chest. Then fasten the busk buttons securely to close the corset. Position the corset so the narrowest part is at your waist.
  • Then, take the pull loops, or bunny ear loops, and tug on them to tighten up the corset. To adjust it properly, pull out the laces from behind your back and then again pull on the pull loops to take away any slack from the corset. If it feels snug and not uncomfortable, tie the bow on the pull loops and secure it.

How to Put On and Adjust a Corset:

  • Step 1: Loosen the Laces and Wrap the Corset Around Your Body Begin by loosening the laces of your corset. Pull on them gently to make the corset easier to handle. Once loosened, wrap the corset around your torso, ensuring the laces rest against your back and the front busk—the section with hooks and buttons faces your chest. Usually, the bottom of the corset has a knot in the laces and tabs for attaching a garter, while the top is more straight.
  • Step 2: Wearing a Corset Liner To prevent sweat and dirt from coming into contact with your corset, a breathable liner is to be worn underneath. Cotton is great as it keeps you quite comfortable.
  • Step 3: Busk Fastening Start to fasten the busk by putting the hook through the button at the top or bottom. Then proceed to secure all the hooks one after the other along the busk. If they undo while doing this, repeat the process. Ensure it is loose enough so you will not struggle or suck in your stomach. Practice and find what feels right in snugness.
  • Step 4: Positioning of the Corset Adjust the corset so the narrowest part aligns with your waist just below your ribs and above your hips. Look for the horizontal boning at the waistline, which often indicates the proper position. Ensure the pull loops (also called bunny ear loops) are located at your waistline. If your corset has a modesty panel, adjust it to lay flat across your back.
  • Step 5: Tighten the Corset Pull the loops at the back of the corset near your waistline to tighten them. Then, work on the criss-cross laces starting from the top. Pull away from your back, moving downward until you reach the pull loops. Repeat for the bottom section, starting at the lowest criss-cross laces and moving upward. Use a mirror to check for slack and ensure even tightening. Modesty Panel Tip: If your corset has a modesty panel, it may buckle up as you tighten the laces. Smooth that out so it lays flat across your back.

  • Step 6: Adjust for Comfort Continue pulling the laces until the corset feels snug but not uncomfortable. Avoid over-tightening, as this may hinder breathing or movement. On your first time wearing the corset, keep it snug but slightly loose to break in the boning. If necessary, loosen the laces to relieve the pressure.
  • Step 7: Tie the Pull Loops Tie the pull loops into a bow once the corset is at your desired tightness. Double-knot the bow for added security. If the loops are long, wrap them around your waist before tying a smaller bow at the back. Avoid tying the laces into a knot, as this makes removal difficult.
  • Step 8: Final Adjustments Check yourself in a mirror to ensure the corset sits smoothly and achieves your desired shape. Look at the back lacing to ensure a small gap and parallel sides. If there are bulges or large gaps, adjust the laces or consider a better-fitting corset.
